Doctors Without Decency

From thinkprogress.org:

Conservatives have slung all kinds of hyperbolic, outlandish, and phony attacks on attempts to provide health care to all Americans over the years, but tea party darling Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) may have taken the cake today when he equated universal health care with slavery. Speaking at a Senate Health, Education, and Labor Committee hearing, Paul argued that if you believe people should have a right to health care, you believe in enslaving doctors, nurses, and hospital janitors:

PAUL: With regard to the idea of whether you have a right to health care, you have realize what that implies. It’s not an abstraction. I’m a physician. That means you have a right to come to my house and conscript me. It means you believe in slavery. It means that you’re going to enslave not only me, but the janitor at my hospital, the person who cleans my office, the assistants who work in my office, the nurses.

Basically, once you imply a belief in a right to someone’s services — do you have a right to plumbing? Do you have a right to water? Do you have right to food? — you’re basically saying you believe in slavery.

I’m a physician in your community and you say you have a right to health care. You have a right to beat down my door with the police, escort me away and force me to take care of you? That’s ultimately what the right to free health care would be.

Talk To The Hand

MY, WHAT BIG LIES YOU HAVE!

I often wonder what Rod Serling, the creator of the “Twilight Zone” would make of Sarah Palin and her grasp of reality…http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/11/01/sarah-palin-politico-president-gop_n_776855.html

CONTRACT ON AMERICA

The good old “W Days”…whose only admitted failure was in not privatizing social security. Dang! One big pile o’ money that escaped harvest they’ll be trying harder to get it next round.

Militia Miller

The Anti-Ted has drawn his line in the sand about what he wants voters to know about his character before the election. Each time he does answer questions, he slips farther down the rabbit hole. No wonder he’s clamming up about his extreme opinions and ideas! Alaskan politics are bizarre to say the least- One of the weirdest things about Joe Miller running for the senate is that he scares many voters so much that they are considering voting for Lisa However-her-name-is-spelled as a write-in…to those who are letting their fears get the better of their hope for our future, remember: VOTE YOUR VALUES, NOT YOUR FEAR. Alaskans deserve a representative of the people in the senate, not a pawn of the oil corporations.

Joe Miller- Enemy of a Free Press

In a recent full-page newspaper ad Joe lists his top 10 ideas for congress, and right at the top of the list is “Listen to the people”.  Also on that list is “Live under the same laws you pass for everybody else”, and “Follow the Constitution”. The recent incident of Miller’s private security detail physically restraining a reporter from the Alaska Dispatch because Miller finds it inconvenient to answer questions about his background he has demonstrated just how much he values the Constitution and the rights afforded the press. Way to go Joe.
